Facts About “Geomatics” on Internet

Geomatics is not another strange word, i believe. It is just a common word on the internet as the widest jungle. I've been wondering how (well) internet knows about this word 'geomatics' couple months a go, but thank god, today i can fulfill my wonder by searching some search engines listed at my firefox browser.

Here is my searching in internet about this 'geomatics'. It is just a simple search and does not intended to make a further research -at least for now. The method i use is just search on those search engines using keyword 'geomatics'. That's all. I believe doing this kind of simple search convinces me that i'm not alone at this geomatics-related topic blog.

GIS Design Approaches

As a system, GIS design could be done by using some approaches. These approaches come from a view of how the GIS data are managed on a certain GIS. GIS data contains at least two kinds of data: the spatial data and the non-spatial attribute data. How to manage them such as store, maintain, integrate them could be done differently, and the practical way of doing this has introduced several methods or approaches.

GIS Components

Geographic Information System (GIS) is a system that comprises several sub systems. Each sub system works as a system of its own as well. Each sub system or component has its own routines or code of conduct. Failure on one sub system or component will influence the entire performance of the system (GIS). So, to be a top perform GIS, these sub systems or components must be taken care carefully. There is a term of GIGO said that “Garbage In Garbage Out”, and this term is for GIS also.

Mainly, there are four basic components of GIS:

a. Data Input Component

The data input component, converts data from its existing form into a form that can be used in a GIS. The forms of data could be as printed (hardcopy) or digital. The printed media could be formed of paper maps, tables of attributes, photos, etc., while digital data could be a form of electronic files of maps and associated attribute data, airphotos, and even satellite imagery. Firefox Extensions for Blogging

Recently, i'm searching for program to help me ease my blogging activities when finally i come to Firefox extension. I finally found some -oh sorry- so many Firefox extensions to use for easy blogging. Blogging activities can be divided into at least two activities supporting each other. Activity number one is: posting, and another one is reading. Posting is to write articles to post on your blog(s), while reading blog is searching information and materials for your blog (posting). Reading blog is -simply- known as blog walking. Those two kind of activities are -in my newbie experience- time consuming, and require tremendous efforts. While posting needs many literatures as base of our articles, reading blog (blog walking) needs effort on searching the suitable blogs or materials that suit with the posting topics and this means -of course- visiting all of the blogs have chosen before. Posting via Firefox Extension (Post2Blog)

As a (new) blogger, i search many ways to efficient blogging. Searching for tools to help blogging efficiently being everyday. I search for plugin, browser add-on, to desktop software. After some tests posting some articles using Blogjet before this, now it is Post2Blog turns. I hope this testing succeed, so that i’ll be able to post some blogs easily the next day. For short, Post2Blog is a kind of software that integrates in Firefox browser, as well as a stand-alone desktop software. It is free but not open source. It has legal disclaimer about protection by law. But, that’s ok, as long as i can use it for myself. :grin: As i can see, this software just like a simplified word processor software with emoticon, and other cool features., and …more. Enough saying, let’s just test it. Hope that it works !

Suasana di Kudus sangat meriah hari-hari ini. Ada beberapa event yang menyebabkan Kudus begitu meriah, diantaranya adalah tradisi Dandangan untuk menyambut bulan Ramadhan, adanya pameran buku mulai 1 hingga 9 september 2007, dan manggungnya Sheila On 7 di Alun-alun Kudus dalam rangka peringatan HUT Kabupaten Kudus. ILWIS 3.4 Goes Open Source

As an open source software user, I’m so glad to find out that more and more software and organizations support open source initiative. ‘My excitement goes from the top of some place very high’ (taken from dialogue in Cars –the movie- said by Luigi The Italian Car, an animation movie of Pixar Studio) whenever I hear this on GIS and its related software. One of GIS and remote Sensing software that goes open source is ILWIS start from version 3.4. Say It With Map

I just realized on this topic when i remember on one wise words suggesting to 'say it with flower' to show our feeling to somebody. On GIS, we can use this wise words too, but not to show feeling to someone, but to show places or directions. We can show people about places or directions by using maps. So, it will become 'say places with maps' or 'say directions with maps' or just 'say it with map'. Why map (is so important) ? What is a map anyway ? Does anybody can make a map ? How to use it ?
